Welcome to Bendix Brakes. Today, we'll examine the operation of a contemporary disc braking system. We'll begin by examining the various braking elements and how they interact in order to stop a car.

The disc rotor, which the brake pads push against to produce friction that slows the rotation of the wheel and the vehicle, is the first major component of the braking system that we will examine.

The brake pedal and master cylinder of the car generate hydraulic pressure in the braking fluid that engages the calliper. In this arrangement, friction is produced by pressing the brake pads up against the disc rotor surface.
