Injection Pumps & Controllers

In diesel engines, injection pumps are driven indirectly by gears or chains from the crankshaft and work at extremely high pressures. A diesel fuel injection pump is coordinated by the engine's timing belt to feed fuel into the engine just before the compression stroke reaches the top of the cylinder. A rotary pump or distributor pump is another form of fuel injection pump that is commonly used in small trucks and autos. The fuel injection pump in this type provides fuel to the carburetor or fuel injection system. A safety logic built into an electronic fuel injection pump system will shut off the pump in the case of an accident or if it detects no oil pressure in the engine.
