Piston Rings

Piston rings, to put it simply, create a seal between the piston and cylinder wall that keeps pressured combustion gases out of the oil sump. By preventing too much oil from entering the combustion chamber and burning, they also control the amount of oil used. The key to maximising engine power and efficiency is having properly working rings.
