Turbine Housings

The housing that houses the turbine and guides exhaust gases into the turbine wheel is known as the turbine housing. One of the most important components of the turbocharger that affects how well the turbo will work is the turbine housing. For the majority of our DPS Turbos, we thus cast our own turbine housings.

There are five basic categories that may be used to categorise turbine housing science.

Housing with a wastegate: A turbine housing with a wastegate contains valves that regulate the exhaust around the turbine such that when the valves are open, a part of the exhaust escapes the turbine. This is the most basic design for a housing for a variable geometry turbine. It can allow an additional 10-15% of exhaust gas to escape past the turbine. This lessens emissions.
